Brian Holloway - Head of Deep Science

Brian Holloway - Head of Deep Science

As the Head of the Deep Science, Brian Holloway leads a diverse team of technologists and entrepreneurs as they develop high-risk, high reward opportunities into commercial successes via an innovative research, development, and commercialization model. Brian joined IV from Lockheed Martin, where he served as the Chief Technology Officer of the Advanced Technology Lab where he was responsible for the laboratory's research vision, technology road mapping, and business development. Prior to Lockheed Martin, Brian served as a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and as an Associate Director of the Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG) office in London. He also founded the Technology Development Division of Luna Innovations Inc., and was an assistant and associate professor (with tenure) in the Applied Science Department at the College of William & Mary. Brian has degrees from the University of Florida (BS Mech Eng) and Stanford University (MS and PhD Mech Eng).


Dave Wine - Director

Dave Wine - Director

Dave Wine is a Director of Deep Science. Dave joined Intellectual Ventures in 2008 with 19 years of microsystem development experience in both mature and early-stage companies. His technical experience includes micromachined accelerometer research and development at Allied Signal, optical MEMS development at Microvision, DNA microarray experience at Combimatrix, and porous-silicon fuel cell systems at Neah Power. In addition, Dave has held various management positions in start-up environments. He earned an MS in Physics and BS in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Washington, holds over 20 US patents, and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Washington.
