IV Announces Deal with Equitable IP Holdings

November 22, 2016 Bellevue, WA

Intellectual Ventures (IV) announced the sale of a seminal portfolio of patents in the online gaming space to an affiliate of Equitable IP Holdings.

Today, Intellectual Ventures (IV) announced the sale of a seminal portfolio of patents in the online gaming space to an affiliate of Equitable IP Holdings. Equitable IP has a reputation for bringing quality patents to a broad customer base through efficient licensing programs.

“In addition to buying and licensing IP, a key component of the IV strategy is enabling strategic access to IP for high demand technologies, even if our in-house licensing efforts around such technologies are still on-going” said Cory Van Arsdale, senior vice president of global licensing at IV. “We spent years assembling fundamental technology portfolios that enable mass online gaming, and it is an important strategy to make these assets available to a wide range of customers.”

IV is a leading private global innovation company with a vast patent portfolio containing nearly 40,000 assets. The sale of latent patents within the portfolio is a standard path to monetize patent rights and create value for IV’s inventors and shareholders while enabling maximum access to crucial technologies.

“We see tremendous value in IV’s online gaming assets,” said Dean Becker, chairman of Equitable IP Holdings.  “We have always been pleased with the possibilities IV’s robust portfolio offers. We continue to see very strong demand for patents like these in the popular gaming space, so are pleased to have made the acquisition.”
