Intellectual Ventures (IV) announces the promotion of senior vice president and deputy chief financial officer Larry Froeber to the chief financial officer role.

Bellevue, Wash., December 9, 2016 – Today, Intellectual Ventures (IV) announced the promotion of senior vice president and deputy chief financial officer Larry Froeber to the chief financial officer role.

“Larry has been an outstanding leader at Intellectual Ventures for the past eight years and brings his strong financial background and business acumen to this new role,” said IV President and chief operating officer Adriane Brown. “As deputy CFO for nearly the past two years, Larry has worked closely across all of IV’s functions gaining an even deeper understanding of our business and our partners, earning the respect of the entire IV team. I look forward to his continued leadership.”

Prior to joining IV in 2008 as a senior director of finance and later vice president, Mr. Froeber served as chief financial officer at one of Washington State’s largest and fastest-growing privately-held mortgage banks where he provided oversight on corporate strategy and financial strategy, and all financial reporting.

Additionally, Mr. Froeber served as vice president of finance with Ignition Partners, a business software venture capital firm, and as vice president of finance and controller at Teledesic LLC, a company working in broadband satellite communications.

“I’m eager to continue supporting IV in my new role and leading the company’s financial strategy and operations,” said Mr. Froeber. “IV has an exceptional team of people doing truly innovative and inspiring work and I look forward to supporting the company’s ongoing successes.”

As a graduate from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, Mr. Froeber remains an active UW supporter. He has served as a judge for the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition, an international social enterprise competition where students from around the world present business solutions and plans to address some of the world’s biggest challenges – poverty, health and development.

“I want to thank Russ Stein who has served as our CFO for the last six years,” said Mrs. Brown. “I look forward to Russ’ continued leadership and contributions in new strategic initiatives for the company.”

Over the last six years, IV’s Finance department has won a number of industry awards including the Adam Smith Award, CFO of the Year Award from Seattle Business Magazine and was a finalist for the Association for Financial Professionals 2016 Pinnacle Award.
