We believe in the importance of learning both internally and externally. Whether through our internal Learning and Development programs or by sharing our knowledge as industry experts, we encourage an ongoing commitment to learning and leadership.
Learning at work
All our employees create personal development plans that focus on how to succeed in their current role and plan for the future of their careers. IV complements their goals by providing the tools and programs to support their development, such as:
- IV University lectures—hosted by our own team members or guests from other organizations—cover topics that range from nuclear fission to beekeepers and from planet exploration to patents.
- Bimonthly book clubs focus on business-oriented topics and feature global discussions made possible by video conference.
Leading in the community
Intellectual Ventures encourages learning and leadership within our local communities, too. For example, each year several IV women lead hands-on workshops for Expanding Your Horizons—a nonprofit organization giving middle and high school age girls the opportunity to nurture their interest in science and math.

Sharing our knowledge
As leaders in the IP, legal, and education sectors, we’re committed to sharing our knowledge.
- We sponsor justice fellowship programs, such as Equal Justice Works.
- Our experts share their ideas with global audiences at university lectures, TED Talks, conferences, and other IP-, tech-, and patent-focused events.
