Research Scientist, IV Lab

After sharpening her interest in infectious disease as an undergrad, Corrie—originally from Chicago—headed to the Pacific Northwest for her doctoral program studying the bacterium that causes TB. That led to her current role at Intellectual Ventures (IV), where she is working on a molecular diagnostic project to develop a test to support cervical cancer screening in low-resource areas.

As a kid, Helen always remembers loving science and the simple joy of discovery, and she went on to earn a bachelor’s and Ph.D. in chemistry. She now works as a research scientist at IV Lab, and she’s part of a team developing portable, affordable, and easy-to-use lab procedures to detect malaria or TB in the developing world.
