We take game-changing ideas and bring them to life to demonstrate their potential for commercial or humanitarian use. Unlike traditional university or corporate research facilities, IV Lab specializes in proof-of-concept work and has the flexibility to take on challenges that are too risky for others to pursue.

Intellectual Ventures Laboratory believes in the power of independent thinking and unconventional approaches to problems. At the core of our success is a team of more than 130 employees, including over 30 PhDs, united by a sense of scientific fearlessness. Capabilities
The broad range of IV’s invention efforts requires IV Lab to be nimble and knowledgeable across disciplines. Our multidisciplinary approach draws on staff expertise including computational modeling, electrical and mechanical engineering, software development, network security, chemistry, microbiology, microscopy, materials science, nanotechnology, physics, thermodynamics, medical devices and aerospace engineering. Our facilities include dedicated photonics, nanotechnology, electronics, environmental testing, metallurgical analysis, chemistry, and biology labs as well as a state-of-the-art machine shop and mosquito insectary.
