Today we announced that Intellectual Ventures has reached a settlement and license agreement with Olympus Corporation, the product of many months of negotiation between Olympus and our licensing and litigation teams. Olympus has agreed to license segments of IV’s extensive patent portfolio, which includes nearly 40,000 IP assets in more than 50 technology areas, and will also join IV's IP-for-Defense program.

magicJack VocalTec Becomes IV’s latest customer

Today marks another milestone in a long relationship between Intellectual ventures and magicJack VocalTec. In 2008, VocalTec (prior to its merger with magicJack) sold a number of patents to an Intellectual Ventures company. Today, we’ve signed a licensing agreement and sold one of those original patents back to magicJack VocalTec.

Intellectual Ventures announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Cavium, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the digital home. The agreement provides Cavium with access to relevant segments of IV’s growing portfolio of nearly 40,000 patent assets, across more than 50 technology areas. Cavium also has the option to become a member of IV's IP-for-Defense (IPFD) program to help minimize risk of future litigation and maintain its focus on innovation.

This morning we announced a partnership with NVIDIA to jointly acquire a portfolio wireless communications patents developed and owned by IPWireless, a pioneer in wireless broadband and broadcast technologies.  The portfolio of approximately 500 patent assets includes essential inventions in some of the most vital technology areas in today’s wireless market.

Earlier this week it was announced that Cypress Semiconductor is our newest licensing customer. A billion dollar annual business, Cypress is a leading semiconductor design and manufacturing company with a history of invention and a deep appreciation for the value of intellectual property. This agreement provides Cypress with access to segments of IV’s growing portfolio, and establishes a long-term relationship which allows for further IP transactions and cooperation in the future.
