Intellectual Ventures Hires Mona Locke as SVP, Corporate Communications and Marketing

Intellectual Ventures (IV) has hired Mona Locke as its senior vice president of corporate communications and marketing. Locke will be responsible for leading IV’s global communications and marketing efforts including internal and external communications, marketing and public relations.
With more than 20 years of global experience working in both the public and private sectors, Locke has held a variety of positions in journalism, communications, corporate and community partnerships, and government relations. She began her career as a reporter and has worked for news stations including KING-TV and KIRO-TV in Seattle. Most recently, Locke served as the interim executive director at the Puget Sound affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, where she ran its operations and led community stakeholder engagement and major fundraising efforts. Prior to that, she served as the national operations director for national Komen’s Washington, D.C. office.
Locke also has significant public affairs experience having served for eight years as Washington State’s first lady and more recently, the U.S. Department of State where she worked on issues pertaining to U.S.-China relations including serving as special advisor to the EducationUSA program.
Locke holds a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley, a master’s degree from Northwestern University, and completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program, Governing for Non Profit Excellence. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees for both Seattle Children’s Hospital and Lakeside School and is an advisory council member for the 100K Strong Foundation, a global NGO.
